On Saturday, November 25th, the First Nations House of Learning hosted a graduation celebration at the First Nations Longhouse to honour participating Indigenous graduates from the Fall Class of 2023.

Longhouse Ceremonial Door

The event saw Indigenous students called into Sty-Wet-Tan Great Hall through a ceremonial door, whereupon each was individually acknowledged by a gathering of families and supporters as having transformed from student to graduate.

Afterward, each graduate was stood up and recognized for completing their academic program and given the opportunity to thank their supporters.

The keynote speaker for the event was Dr. Beatrice Little Mustache (UBC Hon. Doctorate, 2023) and the graduating student speaker was Robin Roberts, MEd, Skidegate First Nation.
