Phd Student Studies the Effects of Hydroelectric Development

History grad student Brittany Luby is Anishinaabe from Kenora, Ontario, and, following her MA work at York University, came to UBC to begin work on her PhD. Her work centres on the history of hydro developments in Ontario in the 1950s and the ways in which they were negotiated with First Nations communities and their effects. In addition to pursuing her own work, Brittany has worked to help other students by organizing tutoring services at the First Nations Longhouse. She is also a poet and journalist.
